There is a famous 10th century Hindu temple of Hanuman ji located in Ayodhya city of Uttar Pradesh state of India. It is one of the most important temples in the city along with other temples like Nageshwar Nath and the under-construction Ram temple.
Located in the heart of Ayodhya, 76 steps lead to Hanumangarhi, one of the most popular temple complexes of Lord Hanuman in North India. It is a tradition that before going to the Ram temple, one should first visit Lord Hanuman temple. Hanuman’s mother Anjani lives in the temple, with young Hanumanji sitting in her lap. This temple is under the Bairagi Mahants of Ramanandi sect and Nirvani Ani Akhara.
Recognition
When Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after conquering Ravana, Hanumanji started living here. That is why it was named Hanumangarh or Hanuman Kot. It was from here that Hanumanji used to protect Ramkot. In the main temple, Pavansut sits on the lap of Mata Anjani.
